Lockheed caliper

Forums

Hi. I am trying to replace the seals on a Lockheed calliper fitted to the front original disc Mk111 Commando. It looks to be a Norvil Upgrade but I cannot be sure. The number printed/stamped is 10K9DT. I have contacted Norvil and explained but am left feeling that I will be receiving the seals for an original calliper as there are two largeseals, oneforeach piston, and two much smaller ones that seal the two halves of the calliper, they (Norvil)tell me there kits have three seals?

Can anyone throw any light on the model.

Thanks Mark.

Hi Mark

you're right in thinking your caliper is an upgrade, the original caliper has three seals, two are the same size and fit into grooves in the caliper body forming the sealing for the caliper pistons , the third seal locates over the threaded portion of the caliper plug ( for want of a better word ) which has to be removed with substantial pin spanner and is of a larger diameter.

I hope this helps

The Lockheed Racing caliper needs different seals to the Norton std caliper also marked Lockheed which is possibly why Norvil are confused if you did not mention Racing, if you did they they should know better.

Here is the RGM link to the correct seals and yes there are 4

Thank you John. All ordered from RGM. I will save the Norvil ones for the rear.

Mark.
