laydown , kickstart shaft bush

Forums

hello,

wonder if anyone could help .how can i remove the kickstart shaft bush, on my laydown gearbox. ive tried to have a go. i tried a big rawl bolt to pull it, but nothing it didnt budge. i put one leg of my small puller under the bottom ridge of the bush inside, but still couldnt move it. . i havent got a drill big enough to drill it out . cant really see how i can get it out. i have searched but couldnt see anything. but if anyone could guide me with the correct search term. i will research it that way.

many thanks

Hi Barry, I have removed a few of these and they have always dropped out with a little heat, no other persuasion required. Maybe I've been lucky!

Hi Barry

What I did was use large thread tap in bush, then put tap in vice, and then use copper hammer on kickstart  shaft lightly . Come out a treat.Best way to put new  bush in is to heat kickstart  shaft  a little freeze bush for 30 mins, and use the layshaft as a drift works fine. Barrie

Hi Barrie,

thanks for the info. good idea of putting a tap into the bush to remove it. will pop the new bush in tomorrow. will fit it like you have.

thanks
