I have just replaced my 850 mk 2 commando kickstart pawl and plunger spring. It turns the engine over no probs but makes a dull thudding noise at the bottom of the swing. Any body any idea what it might be ??

I can move kickstart lever…
I can move kickstart lever well past the bottom of the stroke does not seem to have a stop !!!! I think I shall strip outer and inner covers off and have a better look. Can't remember if kickstart lever ever had a positive stop ??? Many thanks for info

Well it does have a stop at the end of the travel. But you'll notice the lever stopping at the same time as the 'thud'.
If you fit the k/s lever angled forward, which is often done with rearsets, it is quite likely to run out of travel especially if you kick it on the centre stand.
