Jubilee coils

Forums

Tried to start my Jubilee for the first time in a number of years. Put new battery in, kicked over but no spark. Im getting 6 volts at the coils, also noticed with the ignition on Im getting no movement from the ammeter. I can check the coils with a meter, what readings should I get.

Thanks

Hi John,

If you have 6 volts at both terminals of your coils, relative to earth, then the contact breaker points are dirty and not conducting in the closed position. Clean the points with some fine sandpaper dragged through.

Turning the engine over slowly with ignition on you should see the ammeter waggle, and one terminal of your coil will show 0 volts when the cb points attached are closed.

Should fire up then.
