Hi,
can anyone tell me what the standard length is for 1971 Commando fork springs? Also what is the serviceable length? I've measured my right spring after dismantling and it reads 18.58 inches (give or take a mm). The spring has a dab of red paint at it's top. Is this significant?
The left will be dismantled after the right is re-assembled.
Thanks in advance.
Richard Thompson.

The standard length is 18.687 inches (474.65mm) according to Workshop Manual (065146).
I don't know the serviceable length but yours is pretty close to standard.
Red mark is a mystery to me.
