Hello has anybody got a measurement or details of how the timing/ right side footrest clears the laydown box and avoids the oil feed/ return pipe unions, is it like a Norton twin with the same small tanged /splined bit to a long swept footrest or is there a special spacer like the chain case side that allows the footrest I have to clear the gearbox. the swept footrest I have is too short to clear the gearbox at the moment but looking at my 1954 dominator a longer arm as on that bike may fit though it looks like the internationals bottom oil union will be tight to clear if I use one of that length if that makes any sense. its a 1957 reg bike thanks in anticipation Arthur.

Hello Alan that would be…
Hello Alan that would be most useful when you get a chance , assembling a bike the two previous owners have had apart for a long time that I have bought and having got the engine gearbox in the frame the footrests that came with the bike timing side may be wrong, there were no spacers in the box with the bike and seeing the engine plates take standard dommie two tang/splined fixing I have a spare small serrated fixing , a view of your footrest and oil pipes would be useful I presume the bottom oil pipe coupling is a straight coupling and not a 90 degree elbow ? its all very tight in that area even with the gearbox fully back on its adjusters, Arthur.

Thank you Doug, that does…
Thank you Doug, that does help it looks like I do have the correct footrest and just missing the tubular spacer that may be 1.5 or 1.75 inches long with serrations at one end and the two tangs at the other, it means the footrest clears the oil pipes as you show and the footrest sits correct for the gear lever position. thanks for the photos. Arthur.

Thanks I think I have the side that you have but thank you for the offer, I am hopefully adding two pictures of what I have got, the chromed ones came with the bike in a box and I now think they are correct, the one in primer that is longer and is one I had, a spare for my 1954 dommie that does clear the gearbox but fouls the oil pipe access line after looking at previous pictures I think that I need the longer spacer and will be able to use the chrome ones, I can sort it after fitting the oil pipes and make something using the small black dommie cast serrated part and a manufacturing a tang at the other end . thank you for your help. Arthur.

F/bed inter footrest spacer.
Hi Arthur,
Here’s some pics of the spacer.
The parallel section of the spacer before it splays out at each end is 1 1/4” long.

thank you Alan, sorry for late reply , that's sorted the job, I have managed to make one from those measurements using a old longer es2 primary side and the spare dommie short splined part i had. just got to tweak the footrest as once mounted all together its a bit bent where the footrest spindle fits in on the gearbox side , pity he had them chromed as I do not want to damage it. still plenty of time to sort during this lock down. thanks Arthur.

RGM sells....
....this piece which could be helpful in making a custom spacer. I ran into this problem with my gardengate Inter missing R-hand hanger and had to make it.

My 1961 ES2 is a small tange spined bit that the footrest mounts to.
Cheers,
