ES2 forks

Forums

after a long wait, I finally got my ES2 running this afternoon ..... Hooray! it was delayed slightly by my timing that assumed the mag was fully advanced when the cable was tight! Apart from needing to be a weightlifter to pull in the clutch and smoking more than I'd like it ran very well. But it's converted for trials use and I can't help think it would turn better if the bar mounts were over or ahead of the fork axis? Does anyone know if the short roadholder top yoke will fit and if the offset is the same.

Oh and if they are same, anyone want to swap a set of short roadholder yokes for a set of long ones?!

Cheers

glad you have your bike going ok. i think the featherbed top yoke is two and a quarter inch offset. es2 two inch offset also i think the hole is smaller for the top mount nut on the featherbed one. see what others say. Baz

Cheers Baz, I wonder if the pre featherbed forks were different? ive got a pair of navigator short roadholders, just a bit hard to get to at to measure at the moment. I need a bigger garage!

I can can say trying to start an ES2 with about 70 degrees advance was "interesting"!

Long R/holder top yoke crown nuts have a wider diameter.

Apart from sidecar yokes, there appears to be at least two angles relating to the bottom yoke stem. Mine is at an angle, I believe for solo use but I have also seen none angled stems.

I think Skip B was looking into this?

Interesting, but I think you are right that the hole for thetop nut is too small, the later type yokes with a more forward mounted bar seem to be smaller, but I've just remembered offset bar risers(the Rox ones will look too modern.

I think these painted black might do the trick and would certainly let me experiment. They also get the bars further away from the tank! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ALUMINUM-Riser-Increase-handlebar-22-mm-7-8-with-Offset-KTM-/361494465031?hash=item542abfca07:g:0RsAAOSws65TqYnc
