I there I have just acquired a 1948 ES 2. I completed a charity event this weekend, the bike ran fine but I am experiencing a bit of clutch drag. I tried adjusting the cable but only acheive a bit of clutch slip. Anybody got any ideas where I should start first.

Thanks for your advice. I had all the plates out last night and there are a quite a few ridges on the centre hub splines. I will clean them up.
I did notice that the previous owner has not been using oil in the primary chain case, he has been pumping lubricating grease instead, so as not to have any oil leaks. Also the clutch spring bolts have loosened off and the pressure plate was not lifting off square.
Can I use ATF in the primary chain case ?

Check the plates (lines or plain) for run out. If they are warped replace them. If not are the driven plate dogs dragging in the drum. Or the driving dogs dragging on the centre hub splines. Clean them up take off by filing off any burrs.
You need to set the lift up from square one, back off the cable and reset the adjustment in the gearbox worm lifter as per the workshop manual setting.
