EC minutes ,Sept 2017 Bewildered Norton Owner

Forums

I put this comment here because I can't find anywhere else to voice it.

After reading the minutes of the meeting, particularly regarding Les Emery and his threats , could anyone enlighten me as to why this club runs adverts for his business ? At the least, he has cost the club nearly £600 in fees .

Hear, hear! I should like to see the NOC cease doing business of any kind with Mr Emery. He's been buzzing around like a wasp at a picnic for too long as it is, with his bogus claims to exclusive rights and authenticity, but this is insupportable.

At a guess I think this might belong under 'News and Views'.

Oh dear, there's me riding around on a bike with 'Commando' writ large on both side panels. Best stay away from the Burntwood, Staffs area.

just a thought.

if members make up and are the CLUB. would we have been personally liable for any cost if the sh%t had hit the fan.

Can Mr. Emery explain why the judgement of the November 4th. 1994 by the controller general of trademarks at the patent office is not valid? The judgement was that he did not have any rights to the exclusive use of the NORVIL trademark and that Mick Hemmings had the right to use it as well as himself.

Mick appears to have passed his interest to Andover Norton who appear to think they have rights in this matter.Unless Mr. Emery knows to the contrary, in which case he should pursue it with Andover Norton.

That the club should be bullied, as it appears to have been, is unacceptable. I personally will exercise my right to no longern deal with Mr. Emery.

Charles, I believe Mick Hemmings got round the Norvil trade mark issue by registering it in Australia. The question currently is the use of the Commando name.

You are right, so having failed to get exclusive use of NORVIL trademark. Is he now going to claim exclusive use of Commando as well or is his objection to the use of the phrase' genuine parts'?

Thank god the club had more sense than to do a deal to buy his stock.l.

It would be brilliant if the club could commission their own stock of all the parts not currently available.

YET STILL WE WAIT !

The Commando will take care of itself...

The club should make a short factual statement about what has happened in Roadholder. This should be done carefully, taking care not to leave the club open to legal action. The members of the club would then be fully informed when deciding from whom to buy their spares.

Older members might wish to recall the saga of the NOC spares scheme in the late 1970s. I believe there maybe a connection but I am probably entirely wrong.... !

Personally I have not, and do not, intend to use the supplier concerned.

I do believe his embitterment is becausethe club decidednot to buy his stock, yours anna J

Well if he is embittered then the NOC should stop dealing with him, having a hissy fit just because a business deal did not complete is not professional.

Andover supply public as well as trade we have options to get quality spares for our commandos and twins if Les has an axe to grind then so be it that's his choice but I'm pretty sure even in this day and age it's the customer that is always right, that is if a business wishes to prosper or be a viable option to a potential new owner.....Q.E.D.
