Deck Height

Forums

As I know nothing of the history of the engine I have, could anyone give me the dimensions of the cylinder barrel height - From base to headgasket face?

And while we're at it I have a RH10 cylinder head - how deep is the combustion chamber from the gasket face?

Thanks

Can’t help with the information you require but if you are trying to identify what CR you have , the most reliable way is to measure the combustion volume at TDC and compare to the swept volume . Use oil and a burrett

I measure barrel height at 115.7mm. I believe this is original. Another barrel, which has been fitted with liners and hence likely to have had a light skim, has a height of 115.5mm.

I would note that the pistons stop short of the top of a standard barrel fitted with standard base gasket, being about 1mm below the face - from memory 'cos I don't have one to measure right now.

The attachment is from the original Dominator Service Notes and shows the respective deck heights in inches.
