Commando Roadster 850 Battery tray

Forums

Hello. I have a Commando 850 mk2a Roadster 1975 that i am currently working on and recently found that the horn and triangular hanging bracket was bolted to the rear mudguard, due to having no bracket for mounting the horn on the lower part of the battery tray. Consequently the mudguard fractured around the the two slotted fixing points, so i am assuming that i have either the wrong battery tray or the bracket has been removed for some reason.

Can anyone please advise me what would have been the correct set up.

Thanks Neil

My MK2A is setup with a battery tray with the battery across the width of the bike, the horn is down by the rear mudguard hanging on to a small square bracket bolted to the mudguard and not the battery tray. Sounds like you have the same other than the shape of the bracket.

I think the triangular bracket was from earlier than 74 model year, 72 perhaps, doubt if the square one is any more effective and my horn no longer works and is disconnected, but as its the first part bolted to the bike I can't get at it and the replacement is elsewhere.
