Changing Mk111 PTFE Washers

I don't have a MK3 but do have a MK3 rear iso assembly in the spares box for future use, playing around with it yesterday it looks to me like the PTFE washers are trapped until the iso mounting is out of the way of the frame so major dismantling is required. Looks like the Mick Hemming's vernier adjuster upgrade has another advantage.

With the Mk3 isolastic fittings having a single tube through the whole thing it would be difficult to remove the RH abutment to allow removal of the PTFE bushes without swinging the cradle out of position to unmask the central sleeve. That will involve removing the primary drive. It may be possible but to gain access to the iso tube, the oil tank and battery tray will be a blockage. Give it a go and just keep dismantling until you get done what you need. Might as well renew the whole lot while you are in there.

Hi Paul did you find a way to do it without complete removal as mine are missing on the rear and the end caps as well.

I have been looking at my Mk3 rebuild pictures, to replace the iso washers the cradle has to be lowered and move forward to clear the frame so that the screw on collars can be removed. The engine can be tilted forward with exhausts, head steady, coils etc removed at the same time the gearbox cradle is pivoted down which requires the rear wheel, primary dive etc, batterry tray, air box possibly gearbox out. Then you have the problem of supporting it all. For my rebuilt I had it on a bike lift moiunted on supports and used a hoist, engine crane and various straps to manouver bits into place.
