Center Stand spring fixing point

Forums

Hi

I am in the final stages of stripping an interstate to the frame. On checking the center stand I find it in a terrible condition (one missing spacer), and as luck would have it I had a new one in the loft from a previous rebuild, having bought new bolts and spacers (and had bolts holes shaped and welded) I have fitted the new stand which fits perfect and is the same as the old one.

The problem is the center stand spring, there is no location hole in the cross bar on the new stand. Having checked the old stand and the hole is off center at 2" in from the right leg, can somebody be so kind as to confirm the location please. To me it makes sense because as the stand is put down it will pull the spring down and away from the bolt which the stand is mounted on. Saying that it has made a mess of the engine plate where the spring is mounted due to it being pulled out and down.....more welding.

Hi John,

Does this picture help? The stand's actually only a few months old, from RGM, but it's a perfect fit.
