Hi My attempts
No1 Heat and slam hard on a block of wood . Do not pick up thinking it will be cold after 5mins
No2 Use a internal bearing puller. which skidded over the thin bearing wall
No3 With a hacksaw blade saw a split in bush wall . reheat and slam on same block of wood . and burn hand again
unless some guru has a eureka method .I'm going to saw a other split to allow the bearing to relax

For you... 3/4" tap screwed into the bush. Grab the tap in a vice and plastic mallet the KS shaft off the bush/tap.

Greetings,
Can confirm that the Norton Master Mick Hemmings 'tap in bush' works like a champ. I bought an old but serviceable tap in a S.H tool store, brilliant! If you heat the assembly, the hardening of the KS shaft / splines etc. will be affected. You do need a press (and shaft) to install the new bearing
Good luck!

If we are talking about the blind bush which sits in the kickstart axle, then it can be done easily and quickly. Take a stout washer of OD same as the bush. File two opposite flats so that the washer can pass through the bush.Put a blob of 'Blue Tack at in the bottom of the hole, insert the washer, thread a length of studding through washer and into nut, place a suitable spacer, I used a large socket, over the protruding studding, then thread a large washer over the studding screw a nut down over the studding until all slack is taken up, then grip the protruding studding in a vice and screw down the upper nut, the bush will extract easily. To replace, put new bush in freezer for an hour, and then you can push it into its housing using soft jawed vice. finally use a suitable socket +vice to ensure new bush is fully home.
Worked well for me, not my original idea so cant patent or market it, good luck.

I should have added, sit nut in the blue tack before inserting the washer. Also remove the blue tack before inserting the new bush, Sorry,
Charles

Expanding metal Rawplug the Old type use a spacer on bolt or stud and tighten inside bush to grip do not over tighten to expand bush. Put in oven on full heat. Remove when hot and slam on to wood block or pull Rawplug
I have to do the same job and I anticipate having to give it to my local engineer ,is there a method to use in the shed?.
