1948 ES2 piston question

Forums

Evening folks,

The piston in my basket case has 60 thou stamped on the crown. The cylinder appears to be in good nick but the the piston skirt is badly scored. I had intended to drop the barrel off at the machine shop to get it cleaned up but given the piston size I think it may be time to buy a sleeve...

60 thou over is quite a bit . Would you guys recommend a sleeve and new original size piston?

I think you can get +80 pistons if you want to go down that route. But a linner and a std piston is probably a better option. My barrel is with Tony Hartlen at the moment. Although I've never had anything done by him before I know several people who have and have all said he is very good. I thought it was fairly reasonably priced (he quoted me 145 to remove the old lining that has moved, make, fit and bore a new one to my piston). He also quoted me about two weeks so pretty quick!
