1937 ES2 Tyre Sizes

Forums

Hi all

Jut got my nice new shiny wheels back for my ES2. Spoke to Vinage tyres about sizes and they belivev that it should have 32.5s front and rear. I prefer Sms to K70s and Sms only come in 3.50 and 4.00 rear sizes.

what sizes do people run on this chasis? Will a 3.5 foul anything? Do people agree that 3.25 ribbed front Avon SM and a 3.50 rear SM would be a good combination.

Advice appreciated.

Thanks

Stephen

Hi,

I'm not sure if you are still looking for a response to this, but just in case. I recently bought an ES2 with a 4.00" rear tyre and this didn't foul anything. The front is a 3.00". Problem for me is that they are both really old tyres, so I need to replace them anyway.

If you have replaced yours, what did you use and how do they perform?

Hope this helps.

I don't have a 1937 brochure but 1938 shows the 3.25" tyre front and rear for all the OHV and SV models.

I have Indian-made 3.25 Dunlop Uni-Grips on my 16H which is a nice period looking tyre and I'm quite happy with it. The VMCC are now listing an 'Ensign' in 3.25x19 and it would certainly look the part. I have no idea how it performs though.
