1927 Flat Tank paint colour

Forums

I am posting this question on behalf of a member:-

Wonder if you might help. I'm painting a 1927 flat tank Norton and I'm trying to get a good match for the silver. It's a very fine silver paint. I was told and have tried the Ford Silver Fox colour, I've had this mixed and prayed it out but it's too grainy. Might you help?

Thanks

Tony

The correct finish won't be provided by modern paints anyway. This link might assist.

For the 1920's they say "applied by brush and air dried".

So it looks like the ideal is to brush paint a 'traditional' oil based paint - probably an old fashioned aluminium paint, possibly varnished.

Maybe http://www.craftmasterpaints.co.uk// might help? Can someone else with a 1920's machine assist?
