16H Norton petrol tank

Forums

I require a petrol tank for a 1950 16H Norton. It must be in very good condition with no leaks. One restored or a contact as to where I can find a new one. I see chromed ones advertised has anyone any info on these are they good and have good chrome. Thanks Robert

Robert, I bought one the chromed tanks, after having a paint job done on the tank top and sides it was looking really good well pleased. Fitted the tank to my ES2 filled it up and it leaked in 3 places or seeped on the badly welded seams in the top of the tank then lifted the paint. So I cannot recomend them. Tried the petseal method but it has not been successful, only thing to do is grind out and reweld, rechrome and paint job, very expensive solution. The tank is fine 3/4 full so I will live with it for awhile.

Thanks Paul.Re Petseal I have had a disaster with the stuff. the first didnt dry so I put in the 2 pack stuff which has lasted a few weeks before a leak appeared. That is why I decided to look for a new tank. Maybe I should strip my old tank and braze any leaks.I dont want to go down the petseal route again
