Dave Rademacher here in the states lost and alone.I am putting in a pats order and all seems well until I reach the cables. I have a 1954 Norton big 4. The parts I am in need of are the front brake, throttle, spark advance, comression release and clutch cable, In the spares list under singles they mention Jubilee/Navigator and Electra. I have the orginal parts list but the numbers do not match. I saw one posting that for the roadholder parts there are old numbers and new. Is there a parts cross list I can purchase?? In the parts manual under "used on" I see I,16H,18,ES2,30,and 40. Is this what I should go by in ordering parts. Once again I appologise for bothering eveyone with these questions, but I would like to learn all I can and want to order the correct items the first time. Dave Rademacher Minnesota USA

Dave,
If Russells can't help, try JJ Cables Limited.Phone 01926 651470

They made me a full set of cables for a 1938 Norton a couple of years ago - everything fitted perfectly.

Thank you for the replys. I believe I found the items I needed through Russell motors. My only issue is I am unable to contact them at
as the the ad mentions. I do not know if I am holding my mouth wrong when I am sending the email or what the problem is.
I guess I need help with this also. If nothing else I will get up early and ring them.

David - Russell Motors number is certainly (0)20 7228 1714....So +442072281714They don't open on Monday but yesterday was a public holiday here so maybe they were shut today as well. I just rang them but it's 5:30 here and I'd expect spares to be shut by now. It rang normally.Good luck. But I suspect the cable specialist Roger listed will be more likely to have what you need.

I can ring them tomorrow if you like. I'm happy to call since I need to see if they have the oil I want in stock (they are just 2 miles from home).

Once again thanks to all.…
Once again thanks to all.
On my other question, is there a list of part numbers that crossover from old numbers to newer AMC numbers?? I see a number in my spares list of D12/268 front brake control cable complete 1,16H,18,ES2,30,40 and in the parts list from the club under singles it shows SS18 C1_24987 Navigator/Electra
I want to order the correct parts but do not know how to cross over the club numbers.
Again sorry about being a pest but to me it is worth the work to own the Norton as to a Honda or other common bike over here.
Thank you to all for the help

Possibly the best I can suggest is that you contact Russell Motors in the UK. They used to have (and possibly still do) a huge stock of the old big Norton singles parts. See the attachment for details.
