Does anyone know whether the kickstart shaft (part no A2/353) for a 102 gearbox for an ES2 and Model 7 can be fitted direct to a GB8 gearbox for models 88 and 99 Dommies?

Thanks for all that Pete.I…
Thanks for all that Pete.I've actually go those pics and did realise the differences. What I was after was their interchangeability, which you've answered. Glad to know you've done it successfully. I've got a 55 ES2 with a Dommie GB8 gearbox and the kickstart whacks the silencer. Now I know the issue can be resolved. Many thanks.BTW - I posted this on both threads - Singles and Heavy Twins as it straddles both machines (in a manner of speaking) so I thought I had more chance of getting an answer.CheersGeorge

The kickstartaxle on the GB8 gearbox is significantly shorter than that on the 102, likewise the steel bush in which they fit. As the GB8 protrudes less the push on spring cover is also much shorter. The photos below show the differences. The parts numbers differ, the GB8 prefix being H12-2 against the 102's A2. One can interchange all three items to allow the longer kickstartaxle to be fitted to the GB8 box to achieve greater clearance from the silencer. I have done this myself on my 1956 Mod99 to allow fitting of a longer folding kickstart lever as the compression was a bit challenging with the shorter original.
Hope this helps.
PS I'm not a fan of the various sub-divisions of Singles/Heavy Twins etc on this forum as so many subjects overlap. Might I suggest however that one posts a topic on either/or, not both, just a thought.
