Hello all,
I plan to keep the original butted spokes and their nipples on my 1948 International, but I'm not sure what the correct finishes are.
Spokes - probably cadmium-plated, but perhaps zinc?
Nipples - these are brass - unplated, cadmium, zinc, nickel, chrome (they don't look to have been chromed)?
Does anyone know what finishes the factory used on these parts?

My 1939 ES2 when I got it…
My 1939 ES2 when I got it was a very attractive shade of deep rust. Central wheel co did me a brilliant job of black centres, red lining and stainless spokes with chrome nipples. I asked them not to polish the spokes as it would look too blingy or a '39 model, so they left them dull finish. They look like new cadnium and very inkeeping with the period effect.

Thanks all for the input! I have to admit I was wrong about the nipples being bare brass currently. They had a yellow cast, but it turns out this was tarnish on what looks to be nickel plating. A bit of polishing and they're quite usable without further attention.
Arne - nice bike! I do like the black spokes - they're correct for a 1939 KSS, so I painted them when restoring mine.
