1939 ES2 clutch etc.

Forums

Hi Guys I wonder if I can have some help with the 39 ES2

there is a fair bit of work to do but I would like to replace the whole clutch assembley it has 42 chain teeth and 8 outer clutch slots the inner has 16 and front engine sprocket has 20 teeth with 5 steel and 4 cork plates Is there such a thing to be bought or do I collect parts around the world as I see India has some new parts, anyone tried this route etc ?

also need some advice about weather I can braze a couple of fins back on the Head ok or what is the best way to do this ?

Thanks for any help

Ps cant even seem to get the Text size right on this fangled thing......................

Cheers Martyn

Don't bother to re build the clutch with cork plates. All later model clutches will fit the '39 ES2. Thats what I did with mine. I took it to an auto jumble to get parts and did a trade in with one of the dealers for a complete newer assembly.

Fins will need to be welded. I think TIG may be the best option, but ask any good welder.

Thank you Boo

So I will look for a compleate later clutch, I thought I read on one some wear that there might be one of the clutches that dont sit in line with the engine sprocket, I will try to research this.

I have the 39 es2 too.

Want to change also into a later type without the loose inserts.

Have seen a lot of things for sale on the net.

Have found several dealers.

But i have to order one, so you cant see it. And costs a lot. So you want to be sure it's the one you need.

I 'm going to stafford this april and see there to buy one..

So if you have found a good one(dealer), let me know.

Kind regards

Dirk

Stafford is the place to go. Take you bits with you and you may get a part ex on some new bits. If not then there is a whole mine of information there from the club stand and dealers. Have fun.Money mouth
