ES" parts list

can anyone supply me with an illustrated spare parts list for 1956 ES2 - would a list from 1955 be any use?

Hi John,

There is no illustrated parts list for any fifties Norton that I'm aware of certainly not one made at the time.

The only major differences between 55 and 56 were the tinware, hubs, seat, tail lamp though technically that actually changed mid 55 and the knee grips. Oh, worth noting that the petroltank is specific to 56. It should have bolt on knee grips and round badges.

If you need information on the hubs seek out the list for the twins as these same hubs were on the 55 Model 88 and the spares list for that year is very common.

Sorry to disagree Jim but I'm sitting looking at two booklets. One is "Spare parts list for models 1, 16H, 18, ES2, 30, 40, 30M and 40M for 1950" produced by Norton Motors Ltd and the other is similarly titled but for 1955 (models ES2, 19 Rigid Frame and 19 spring frame). Both booklets have illustrations although the earlier one slightly more.Hope this helps. George

I wasn't at all impressed with the mainwairing smith copy but bought a newly printed properly bound 1956 ES2 parts list - it has a purple cover - thought I got it from the club.

Yes Norton did publish parts books for 50's models. I have a 1956 ES-2 book which could be sent to you to copy.

If Neil Wyatt sees this message he may be able to help as he has copied mine.

No, they are not a fully illustrated parts list which I believe is what John is looking for. They are a parts list with a few illustrations thrown in. Some pre war parts lists had *every* single part pictured which is what I would class as an illustrated parts list.Jim
