If
If original from the 30's, maybe the fellow was a supported rider, and got the 'A' kit parts rather than 'standard' parts? (By 'A' kit, I mean specially selected mid tolerance bits)?
It could also be a much later stamp from 'only' 70, 60, 50 years ago where Roberts idea could make sense, if the cases were sent to a repair shop and the owner didn't want them mixed up.
Intriguing.

Thèse crankcase came from a…
Thèse crankcase came from a bike delivered in June 1934 and raced during 1934 and 1935 MGP, with « special tuned engine to full Manx specs »
first owner was the pilot of the bike. The name is in the NOC factory record, and it is not McKinleY
This MGP rider kept the bike until after WW2 then sold it to buy a car.
no more history since this moment,
I bought Them some years ago in Northern Ireland from a nice Norton enthousiast, and he had also no idea about this Mc Kinley...so I have to say I’m also curious ...

My guess is that its an owners name. Sending your motor for an overhaul ,you would want your own one back.
