Thanks Bob. Mine has obviously been tinkered with as its shorter with absolutely no tension in it when fitted between the plates. I can feel a visit to the Motoliner jig coming on :)

New spacers/crosstubes are available from the usual suspects. The width should match your swinging arm perfectly and it's important that the gussets in the frame are parallel and match this distance with a slight amount of clearance.

If you are talking about the spacer that's above the swinging arm then I believe it's 8.5" ish - only measured with a tape.
