Hello Well I have not shown of my Bikes Has the NOC is Biased towards this Norton I have posed two perfectly good photos for the NOC calendar and both where rejected with there nitpicking at the faults with them say the background all wrong Well I say the photos are of Norton Motorcycles, not the Background this to me is just Biased against this Norton Manxman from the day it was built It is time All this was put to rest and Pay respected To This Model and there owners enthusiasts No one seems to me to give a shit about this model and other Rare Bracebridge Models Time for some of you to grow up and stop being little boys and throwing your dummy out of the pram In our days Bracebridge Nortons are getting rarer Buy the year In this country we should celebrating our bikes not condemning each other's bikes And as for the Calender Now who cares about the Background It's the Bikes we pay to see Do I now make my point of view And I put this down strongly as It seem there is on one out there like talking to a brick wall were have all the Norton enthisasts gone and Not all Nortons were painted In Black with A Silver Tank

Anna, post up the photo and then us mere mortals can judge the aesthetics of it!
Perhaps the Manxman, engenders polarity because of it's sexy red dual seat!
Perhaps members should vote on what gets included in the Calender.
One month should show a box of bits, or a half-built machine, because many members are in this situation, therefore by not being represented/included in the Calendar, a fair % of the membership number are not catered for!
A long moaning post will not help in getting any of your photos in the Noc calendar. Have you heard of the saying 'Less is more' ? In your case i think a lot of members are fed up with you constantly banging on about how important manxmans are and how everyone should worship the ground they wheel across.
wind your neck in and people might be a little more ameanable. Try asking for hints and tips on how to take a better photo for starts.
No need to be unpleasant and personal Peter! Some of what you have put, about photography tips may be useful, the rest isn't.. Speaking for supposedly "others" isn't useful either.
Ironically, most Norton's after 1961 owe the Manxman a lot, it's technology was incorporated into the 88SS & 99SS variants and then of course the 650 SS, (according to the experts), and the Manxman being rated @ 52 bhp was the most powerful bike available till the Atlas came along.
Yes, something more should have been done to remember the Model and Phil Hannam is trying to do just that I believe, with Anna's assistance. Wish I had something rarer some days, that just another 99, but then bikes can be personalised I suppose.
If some kind soul would donate some 650 bits ,crank,rods ,case I will build probably the rarest Norton, A 650DL!!. I think any that were not exported to the Communists fell foul of the great god "TRITON". What a shower!.
That's why no one will give you the bits Robert, the Bath Tub Special was about as popular as "pork in Jerusalem"! Enclosure, is a tricky business, the Ariel Leader probably was a better pop at it!
As for bits, 100 of ton's of "Shedman's", bits and bobs, will be skipped in the next 10 years, as the hoarders "pop their clogs" and those left on Earth, do not know what it is/are, (the bits) and what to do with it/them! I suppose "EvilBay" sharks have their uses.
hello Well, I am cool, but now you have some evidence of how Mr Shand feels about me As I will not bow to people like him, I do my own thing and are answerable to no one, now back this bike now The Norton Manxman was a big step forwards to trade with Our American Friends across the pond but also was the technology without this development there would not have been No Atlas or Altas spin-offs Or Commandos that goes for the 961 after all these bikes are just bits of steel and alloy and nuts and bolts they all end up in the melting pot one day just like everything else long after we're were dust; anyway, this old world is running out of time anyway yours anna j
Tne Manxman is only a development of the model 7 via the 88 and 99's, therefore no more significant or less than a 99 or an Atlas. It was a machine produced as part of the ongoing development process that finally ended with the Commando mk3. Apart from high handlebars and a red seat, there is/was no new technology or inventions used on a Manxman or any other Norton produced in that period.
I'm glad you like yours and are so passionate about them, but the unfortunate reality is, like most of the British bikes of that period there isn't anything groundbreaking about them to warrant any special attention.

I would be more likely to buy the NOC calendar if it contained a photo of Anna's bike. We all know what Nortons look like. The NOC calendar would more more interesting if the pictures had more interesting back stories. I don't need any more pics of anonymous bikes in beautiful surroundings. I want to see Anna's bike. Surely I am not the only one?
Actually, it was the revision of the Bottom -end and a more efficient head design on the Manxman, that bestowed itself to all the models that followed it so it was the precursor to the final finest development of the heavy twins. The Dominator 650 SS, was probably not called the Manxman here, through perhaps customer resistance and the memories surrounding the Excelsior marque.
Also at the time of the launch, the big twin hadn't really done anything at the IOM, imagine if they had launched the "Manxman" with that name, both in the Export market and eventually Home markets after Tom Phillis's result in 1961 Manx Senior TT, perhaps then it would have been a different story! There might have been many Manxman's to photograph.
Because Triumph knew the Value of a name as did, BSA, the Triumph products in particular, Thunderbird, Tiger, Bonneville, had always cast a long, dark, shadow over Bracebridge Street, for a very long time! Turner was a clever salesman having a name an attaching a proposed speed Tiger 90, Tiger 100, Tiger 110 was a very smart move to market motorcycles.
I think that is Anna's bike at a show somewhere.
Hello David& john now thank you for your kind remarks of this the bike is a very nice runner and rides nice to no smoke or nasty noises and I overhauled the engine new first crank regrind done by Arnetts of Doncaster they been in Engineering for decades everything clean original standard pistons BHB 23269L&23270R all new nuts bolts and screws imperial BSW & Bcyc & BA screws new tyers and tubes new wheel rims new Diamond Chain Witch you cannot get a better chain As the Chainman tells us new seat cover as standard in bright red done by Leighton's seat covers Standard silencers made in house by Norton and now 60 years old and still look like the day they were made, nice chrome Paintwork was done by Me to the correct colour took six months researching the right paint code done in cellulose with anti-ethanol lacquer cost 72 pounds a litre and another 75 pounds for all the paints around 350 pound for the spraying equipment that compressor 2hp 10cfm 30 litre tank compressor pipe and fitting around 40quid and then two small gravity feed guns23quid a pair and two weeks of my time doing the spraying a respary for a motorcycle now will be around 1500 quid in labour costs so then you ended up with a nice very rare Norton ManxMan 650 as there is only 12 In this Country And I own one of the 12 and Its a early one built with in the first month from the start of manufacter and I have fitted the stronger Rods in her and she gas follwed to with new valves and terrys springs and bronze guides recut valve seat I did At Motech engineering And I lapped then in there and they were tested there So Motech Approved And new I have a new set of stainess steel engine plates laser cut for her to fit but first they need polishing so they look like Mirrors So My Bike are on going projects being updated as cash and time alows Today I sat with a nice quiert pint of Gunniess just listing to the rain Now the siliver lining in them cloud will shine and we can then go for a Nice ride have fun Yours Anna J
