Thank you Peter got sorted. Incidentally Norton recommended Silcolene Semi Synthetic 10W/40. Apparently they experimented with other grades in an attempt to quieten the primary drive. Wondered what other owners thought.

Stuart Garner recommended a lot of people to buy a Norton too  and look how that turned out. :(   It all depends on who is doing the recommending.

My personal theory is that the best way to quieten the primary clatter is a 50/50  mix of EP 140 and sawdust..........."PLEASE DON'T TRY IT" it's a joke.

Hi Kevin,

My Dad changed his on his 13 plate 961 Sport and i think i remember him saying it was a Bosch filter, will check with him later and let you know.

Kind regards,

Ian

I just did an oil change last night. When installing the new filter there is a certain fit don’t force if you have the manual it will mention it.  Also yes as above fuchs or silkolene semi synthetic oil 10/40

rings that came with Bosch filter are too thick I would make sure you have right rings for plug as well as oil cap on side picture shows ring thicker was one that came w Bosch filter

Bumped in to a fellow 961 owner yesterday. I mentioned the rather worrying rattles from my bike and my hope that an oil change might help. He said his was the same until he replaced the oil with ELF fully synthetic 10W60. Have any other owners had similar experiences and did Mr Garner get a back hander from Silkolene? Unlikely I know.

Good afternoon oil filter 961 is a Bosch P9147 you can buy on line or phone krazy horse and do a fram oil filter which will fit
