1930 Brake arm and spring

Forums

Good morning,

Could anyone please help with a brake arm and spring to suit a 1930 Norton 500?

If anyone could help with an accurate drawing so I can look into getting them made I’d be very grateful. Even better would be if anyone has a spare they would sell ??

I’ve attached a couple of pictures taken from a similar machine showing the parts required.

Many thanks   Ian

I bought several of these springs from Martyn Bratby last time I was in the UK. Give him a call

I have an arm so I will get some measurements over the weekend and send them to you.

Hi Ian,

Thanks for posting the pictures, that is exactly the brake arm i'm looking for. Any diemensions would help so I can try and get one manufactured as I don't think i'll ever find an original.

My bike is also a 1930 Model 20, I've attached  picture.

Many thanks  Ian

Hi Ian,

Thanks ever so much for the diagram, I think every dimension is there so I should be able to get one made.

Thanks so much for taking the time and trouble to produce the drawing, it really is appreciated.

Cheers Ian.

An update on the brake arm.

Using the drawing Ian Richtsteig kindly provided I’ve had a go at making a brake arm.

I’m not an engineer but hopefully it will look and work OK. The spring was an ebay purchase from a seller in Slovakia. I’ve attached a couple of pictures, thanks again Ian for all your help.
