ES2 Rocker shaft removal

Forums

Hi, I have a 1955 ES2 which is having a top end overhaul and I have a problem. I can't seem to be able to remove the rocker shafts. The manual reads that they should just tap out but they won't move and I'm worried about using too much 'thump'. Any ideas?

Thanks

Have you tried a blow torch/hot air gun on the cover, David? The try tapping them out. George

Hi David, I did the same thing myself last week: Mike Pemberton warns in the pushrod singles DVD not to take them out cold. I heated for perhaps 30 seconds... until it was too hot to touch...they tapped out easily without much effort at all. Hope they will go back just as easily !! (grin)
