Please can anyone help with a problem I am having regarding my Norton 961 Commando. The fuel tank fixings have been replaced once already and the tank seems to be still a bit loose fitting especially on the right side. The bigger problem is recently in the rain the bike has been running rough.
Can anyone suggest what I need to do or say to my local motorbike repair shop.
Mike

Hi Mike
Sorry I cannot help you with the loose tank but I did suffer similar problems with mine in the wet. Firstly behind the cylinder heads there are connectors in the wiring loom. With mine, the water gathered in the recess behind the heads covering the connectors and led to it cutting out. I cable tied the leads up and soaked it in WD40.
In really heavy rain to and from Italy last year I had a further problem where the coils were getting wet. These are located under the tank and may well be your problem.
Speak to the service department at Norton and Mark should bear able to help you.
Regards
Graham
