850 mk3 gear lever

Hi

Fairly new to the club. I have just purchased a very tatty silver 850 mk3 Interstate on ebay, It's in need of a lot of TLC and no doubt copious amount of cash lavished on it to bring it back to a reasonable, rideable condition. Can anybody tell me where I can buy a gear lever?

Back in the seventies I was working for a NVT dealer and I recall the original lever was aluminium but I seem to remember a T160 Trident lever would fit, albeit chromed steel these seem to be readily available.

Yes, it is an alloy lever. RGM (and probably Andover) have them but at a price. If it's not urgent, keep an eye on Fleabay, MK3 bits do come up from time to time. In fact I bought a pair of NOS pistons that way.

Just finished a total refurb of a MK3 Roadster - an interesting, educational and wallet lightening experience. If you get stuck, send up a flare.

Andover list them at £41.25 + VAT.

The nice ali gear lever is about the only part of my Mk3 that's never given any trouble !

These levers do not like being used for braking either. Same problems as with overtightening. PING!!!

Attachment shows dimensions and top view. That angle is very important to help clear the primary cases. There were some metal versions around at one time. Not completely certain but possibly off the Triumph 850!!!
