well despite having my battery on regular charge and on the optimate, the ist mot was due so uncover,unlock wheel out of garage and click click click, dam, battery dead,reconnect to battery charger, starts ist time disconnect battery charger bike stops instantly,so now I have to remove the seat and tank to get at the battery not very practical Norton!!!. I know one of the club members has had todo this before and the tank fell off and got damaged, so what I need to ask members, any tips (except be carefull) shortcuts etc any help would be much appreciated as I'm off to the classic TT end of the month and have to get it sorted asap.

You've already managed the battery replacement but just to give my experience on this task , you don't need to remove tank completely - leave the fuel pump connected.
Remove three bolts so tank can be lifted up and to one side exposing battery compartment. Rest tank on a suitable support alongside bike -protected with old cushions ,rug , whatever.There's enough room toremove old batteryandreplace with new one leaving the fuel pump connected.

Well don't count your chickens as they say,still no joy of starting and after a friend with diagnostic computer looked into it,,looks like the fuel pump has given up the ghost,thats after tank off again,check fuses and every electrical item and wiring,I,ve only done 1200 miles, but need it sorted for the IofMan classic, so off it goes back to Donnington on Monday,now where is my rainy day money, oh spent it because its always raining. mmm
