On page 111 of P.L. Garrett's manual, when fitting timing sprocket and chains for Models 88, 99 and 650 from 1958, he says to fit a THICK washer to the camshaft and then fit the woodruff key.
I cannot find this washer listed in any of the post 1958 parts books.
The earlier parts books do list a thin washer for the camshaft on the dynamo models to space the fibredrive dynamo gear.
Does anyone know whether there is a washer on the camshaft of the alternator Dominators?

Hello there is No thick washer on the Norton Manxman 650 on the camshaft end where the camshaft sprocket fits but there is a thrust washer on the intermeadate gear shaft , yours anna j

I thought that was the case as I haven't fitted a washer before on any of my alternator bikes but Garrett made me doubt my knowledge. Yes I always fit the hardened washer before the intermediate gear is fitted.

Hello Unless this manual is referring to fitting the commando camshaft into a dominator crankcases wherethe Commando camshaft has no shoulder they fitted a trust washer, then this may explainthis good luck yours anna j
