G15CS Triple clamps

Forums

Hi all,

I'm having a difficult time sourcing the lower triple clamp for my 1967 G15CS. The parts manual calls for part # 03-0499 for the G15CS as opposed to 03-0026 for other dommi's such as Atlas. Can anyone tell me for certain what differences there are between the two and whether the Atlas version will function on my G15? I don't have an original to compare.

Also, any leads on sources for this item, new or used.

Thanks,

Ed

The difference betweenthe Atlas lower yoke and a G15CS lower yoke is that the G15CS lower yoke has part of it cut away to clear the frame. The Atlas lower yoke has extra parts on it to stop the handle bars touching the petrol tank. The later G15CS top yoke is as per the 650ss, and the Atlas.

Thank you Anthony. Would you, or any other member be able to provide a photo or drawing showing the differences?

Hi Richard,

The early Commando's had the steering stem integral with the lower yoke whereas the later Commando's had the steering stem integral with the upper yoke. So, both lower and upper yokes are different.

The lower yoke for the Norton Atlas Scrambler, N15CS, G15P, G15CS,G15CSR, G15 Mk2 AJS 33Std, 33CSR all had the same lower yoke. It is easy to tell the difference as the lower yoke has the sides cut off from it, where as the Atlas keeps its fork stops intact on the lower yoke.
