Hi everybody
I now have given up on ever getting my hands on the model 18 I have been waiting for (lack of registration papers and a non caring seller) - thus last month I bought a non-running ES2.
Yesterday a 1954 Model 7 in running and sober condition came up for sale (at 3700 £), and now I am dual Norton owner.
It has the aluminium head, right petrol tank and looks the part. It sounds a bit off though due to high compression pistons. The original seat is also present.
Now I hope to create a more lively branch of the NOC here in Denmark, so we can have some more local scandinavian meetings.
Drive safely
Niels

Very nice, how high compression?, the alloy head may cope as its one ratio below the later heads, you can always fit a plate under the barrels. Interesting building behind, raised above ground, whats that about?.

It's the sellers building but I think it has to do with dropped/settled ground underneath, so it looks like they are leveling out the house while building a new foundation.
I haven't measured the compression yet but I also thought about raising the barrel with a plate. It is on it's last set of piston sizes so I will look at it when it needs a rebore and hence linings.
The sound doesn't bother me even though it is a bit more rough, and it starts very easily.
Regarding the price, then all classic and veteran bikes are quite cheap over here. Take a look at the following site, then you'll see what I mean.

If its an easy starter its unlikely that the compression is high enough to be a worry. A 10 to 1 piston in my 250 only actually measures around 9 to 1. Pistons nominally 9 to one for a Dommy after 58 will only make 8 to 1 in the earlier alloy head.

Looks like Denmark is the place to go for cheap bikes! We'd better rush as the clock is ticking.......

You say the original seat is present but the one in the photo is not it. That seat is for a plunger or rigid bike. Also the seat springs on the plunger model 7 seat are much longer. Still I would love to ride that bike around just as it is.

The original dual seat is present yes, in a very nice condition. I'll keep the solo seat (from a bmw) on for now as it is really comfortable to ride with, and looks cool.
