I have a 650SS/1966 with a single concentric. I've found this "Air filter assembly : Featherbed - Single carburettor 'D' shaped" in the NOC-Shop. Is this correct for my application?Fritz

BTW: What does the term "Vokes" mean. I couldn't find it any of my dictionaries.

My slimline came with one similar to that when it arrived with single carb. I think the filter element was from a BL mini, cut in half with a craft knife! I think it had an alloy extension tube to fit the carburettor intake.
British bike manufacturers did not fit filters as standard because:
a) there was no customer demand - since racing bikes did not fit them
b) therefore they saved costs
c) therefore the engines wore out more quickly so the manufacturers benefitted by the additional demand for replacement engine parts!
d) and they could supply filters as optional extras and make a few more bob.
Vokes were a manufacturer of air filters. They provided the ones for Norton 16H during the war in the desert.

Don't think they were fitted with this type, although the early 650 standard was a single carb. More to the point are you able to get a filter for this type if you find it will fit. I have a Norville box filter on my 99 DL which has no battery box so access just possible, no dedicated filter for it, had to make my own. Big faff, but probably worth it with protection from flying stones and grit.
