An old chestnut - Choice of tyres

Forums

Hi,

Can anyone help me decide?

Should I use AM26 Roadriders 100/90 v19 or AM9 4.10 Roadrunners?

I have been using AM26 3.25 - 19 on my rigid Ariel and am happy with them, butit is a rather different type of machine.

Concerning my Commando (which has vintage TT100s that must be replaced) what is the general consensus of opinion?

Thanks,

Keith

In my opinion Roadrunner Universal tyres are great, recently I have tried a pair of Roadriders and they are great too, maybe better grip, but I feel may have a shorter wear life (only time will tell) but they are cheaper to make up for that.

I'll take grip over life everyday with the low miles I do so its Roadriders for me 90/90 front 100/90 rear. And the TT100's lasted 2 weeks when I bought the bike, the white lining magnets went in the skip and replaced by roadrunners promptly without waiting for them to wear out.

Another vote for Road riders. I too have a 90/90 front and 100/90 rear.

Grippy, neutral-steering and an absolute resistance to any white-lining symptoms.

For normal road use, I can't think of any reason to change from them.

Hi all!

Thanks for the input. I guess Roadriders will be my choice. Interesting to note the smaller cross section tyre on the front - I guess it makes steering lighter?

Thanks,

Keith

Just a footnote....When new, the old TT100's really are the tops in cornering ability with superb cornering grip and for me, nothing looks better on a Commando...it's surprising how their triangular chunky pattern just makes the Commando look so good...it's not matched by any other tyre..and of course if you're after original looks there is no alternative bearing in mind the sometimes used Avon GP's (extinct*) were hopeless compared to the TT100....Les

* Actually I've just checked and you can now get these again!
