Commando Interstate Left hand side panel

Forums

Having problems with the left hand side panel. Lost the old panel due to a faulty worn Zeus fastener. The new panel wont stay fastened either . Set off yesterday and found the thing loose, about to drop off. Anybody found similar things happen to their panel? Any body out there use extra fastenings or bindings to keep the panel secure? It's a fiberglass panel. Any input welcomed.

I used a RGM replacement bracket, seems secure but I put a cable tie round the bracket and frame just in case.

Hi Chris

When I removed my original airbox the dzus fastener went with it

I got two tension springs looped together and drilled two 1/16 th holes one in the cover the other in the top fillet where the oil tank halves are joined together

its really easy to remove and cost nothing to do

Thanks for that idea. It's a worthwhile modification.

It's '74 INTERSTATE. I'll try that cable tie idea, should work well as an intermediate fix for now.

On Andover Norton site It could be Old style with steel Dzus fitting fixed to the frame near the Carb's or later MK 2 a with plastic Zuse fitting in the side of the panel.
