500T fuel tank pinstripes

Forums

Evening folks,  could someone tell me width and spacing of pinstripes on 500T fuel tank?  There are remnants of a poor repaint but tends to look a bit heavy at 1/2" black and 3/16" red with 3/16" space.
Thanks

The tanks were plain alloy with 'Norton' letting in Black.  No lines.

If you want traditional Norton lines, the black was usually 1/2" but red was by a lining brush and somewhere between about 1/16" and 1/8".

These tanks were definitely not Alloy in the main. In fact it's very much subjective as to wether there were genuine works alloy tanks at all.
Production models were definitely steel and painted silver. Lining only on the top on these tanks in a black and red traditional Norton style.
My own 500T is not original paint but I have seen one or two, and the black is pretty heavy and 1/2" could easily be right. I think the red is finer at more like 1/8" though. There are loads of pics out there so keep looking for period shots.

Not that I have ever seen one but the write up in our library talks of a dull nickel steel tank with silver panel with the lining as per your photograph. The layout on mine is not as yours, all photos I have viewed show your layout to be the correct one.

Thanks again, if you have any parts going or know for some I'm in need of a genuine top yoke. Bottom one is correct with reverse sweep but top is a standard one that has been modified to suit.

Also need:

  • a stand, rear or side,
  • 276 carb (76 fitted)
  • and a magneto, (magdyno at present).

Best regards
Jon

That's actually not my bike. Mine has no lining at all to be honest.
I made my own side stand, not too tricky.

The lining adds little to the trials machine so not too bothered but if I add it I'd like it to represent the original. The stand is a secondary problem as it's up on blocks at present.

With regard to attaching photos, problem may well be with format rather than device used. I have no issues adding jpeg or giff but modern cameras create HEIC files which may be more difficult.  Just check the file name extension on your photos to see if if that is causing your problem.
Thanks again
Jon

Stephen says it's hard to add them - I find it easier than most. Simply click the little picture icon, browse your computer to find the pic you want and click it. Bob's your proverbial.Unless of course you're tryinmg to do it with one of apple's devices in which case you're on your own.
