16H exhaust support bracket

Forums

Good morning all so I've now got an age appropriate 16 H engine Instead of the overhead valve engine.

Can I ask what downpipe exhaust support bracket should be in place?

Clearly, the exhaust for the overhead Valve engine will meet the bracket but what does the 16 H use?

The prewar civilian 16H had no bracket at the front.  My 1937 has no bracket and no ill effects.  I believe the WD16H did have one (possibly for reliability in rough conditions?).

The steel pipe must get hotter than the head, so it must get tighter as engine heats up.  So they must have decided it wasn't needed?

Ahhh thank you David. Of course I've been looking at pictures and some do and some don't but yes, most of the WD versions do you have them but in different locations.

Many thanks for that info, David
