ok or not ?

My Dommi 88 has a `split link ` holding the Cam chain together . OK or frowned upon ?

I have run one like that on a road bike for years.  As long as it's fitted correctly with the clip on the inside edge and the closed end of the clip facing in the direction of rotation ( counter-clockwise viewed from the timing cover ).  If you are really worried the trick with a bit of alloy kitchen foil is good enough for racing.  Good luck, Howard

Cumon lads where have you been ?  You're having a giraffe ......really ?  Before fitting the spring clip but a small piece of aluminium foil (Lidl's will do nicely) over the fish-plate such that the two legs puncture the foil,  fit the clip carefully so that the foil doesn't tear, then bend the top bit of excess foil down over the top of the clip and bend the  excess spare foil at the bottom up over the bottom rail of the clip. Add a couple of drops of superglue and trim as necessary.  It'll outlast your chain.  good luck, Howard

That Foil Trick is new to me ! I have raced and been involved in Racing bikes for years and must have missed this one . I`m going to fit two new `endless ` chains to my new build anyway. Good to know though !

Cheers Wayne - as you know from racing, buy a good brand from a reputable source. A chain is only as good as its weakest rivet or fishplate.  Howard
