Has anyone had a good experience with the positive earth unit?, no luck with mine and can't immagine how it can power a coil with no dwell time.

I successfully run a Accuspark unit which is similar to Powerspark on my Dominator. The only problem I had, was the initial setup in order to get the engine running so that you strobe the ignition timing using timing marks that you are going to have to make somewhere on the alternator rotor and stator.

Even if you have a running engine with the points setup and just swap the points plate for the electronic ignition, the timing may not be near enough to get the engine running. Unfortunately the instructions you get with Accuspark are pretty basic and I would assume those provided with Powerspark are the same.

Is your engine currently running on points and have you setup any timing marks so that you can use a strobe?

My problem is I cannot get the unit to produce a a regular spark. The points system works good enough till the points clog up. Re timed for the unit but not able to run. Fitted many new parts but no change, Re-wired ,hot wired, made no change.I noticed that the unit only powers the coil for the briefest pulse not like any other system which all have a "dwell" to allow the coil to saturate. Contaced the company they could not explain but tested the unit and said ok. They did say that pos earth ones work in a different and inexplicable way! and that a fast kickover is needed!. I'm back on points going in another direction now. I have EI on all my bikes never had any issues.
