I've just acquired a 1960 Jubilee De Luxe in large bits with a view to restoring it. it has a couple missing; namely the chainguard and correct front mudguard; the one on there is from a later Jubilee, I think.

Judging by the absence of companies or individuals selling such specificitems on the Net, I'd guess they're the Norton equivalent of hens teeth to find?I would imagine autojumbles e.g. Stafford are the place to go, although this is complicated by the fact I live on the Isle of Man....

Could anyone point me in the right direction, please?

Also can anyone advise me what the correct colour scheme is for a November/December 1960 De Luxe would be? Red/Grey or Blue/Grey?

Many thanks,

Phil

Hi Phil, Correct colour scheme is signal red, forest green or tunisian blue for the upper tank, forks, headlamp shell and upper parts of the rear enclosure, Dove-gray for every thing else ?

As far as the chainguard is concerned you could try Alan Swainson (alanswainson@hotmail.com) who manufactures chainguards for all types, including Norton lightweights at £30 each. I came across him at the recent Kempton Park autojumble and have since ordered one for my own Jubilee.

A pukka front mudguard was recently offered (but not sold, I think) on eBay so you may want to keep an eye out for it re-appearing.

Many thanks for the information. I'll try Alan for a chainguard and keep an eye out on E-Bay for the mudguard.

Cheers,

Phil

PHIL. THE LAST TIME I WAS AT THE I.O.M. ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO I SAW A GENUINE FRONT MUDGUARD OFF A JUBILEE IN A BARN NEXT TO THE SCRAP YARD IN RAMSEY UP TO THE DOCKS I THINK HE DID SKIP HIRE AS WELL HE HAD LOADS OF MOTORCYCLE SPARES FOR SALE .

Hi Colin,

Many thanks for the information' I'll take a run down there and do some hunting around. The way things work here the 'guard may still be there. Also I've been told of a member of the VMCC on ilsand who rides an early Jubilee so may have one or know where to get one.

Beginning to feel like Inspector Clouseau now!

Cheers,

Phil

I have a De Luxe Front Mudguard that I can sell to you. It is featured on the Bristol Branch 'Golden Jubilee' Bike that was exhibited at Shepton Mallett Show (Feb 2009), Norton Day 2009 & National Rally 2009.

It is painted Gold with an easily removed decorative spray paint and will need to be taken off the bike. It was a project entered into by Bristol Branch for the Jubilee celebrations and is made up from components supplied by members of the Branch.

Bristol Branch has Andy Sochanik the NOC Lightweight Expert as a member and if you need any help he is always available via e-mail etc.

If you need other parts he may be able to help as he has his own stock!!!!! and I have a few bits as well.

My e-mail address is bob@bellsbristol.freeserve.co.uk

Regards

Bob Nicholas.
