New owner Model 50 determining rpm limit

Forums

Hi all, just purchased a 1963 Model 50. First classic single to join the stable. I will be taking it on a long ride (500KLM) crossing the Rockies here in Western Canada this Sunday. She cruises comfortably at 50-55mph on the flat, starts to get "buzzy" anything after that. As there is no tach, and I will be climbing some long hills, want to get an idea as to the max safe rpm I can run her at. Can anybody tell me what maximum safe speed would be in either second or third? Theory being with that point of reference I can spin her up to that and get a feel for it, then I'll back her down from that for the long climbs. I understand they are happier with rpm vs lugging?

Any advise or insights gratefully accepted!
