Can anyone help with explaining what the 5330/31 ref.no. on the speedo drive gearbox means? Is there an alternative that will fit in place of this original?I understand that Royal Enfield ones fit but I don't want to take a chance. I know it's 2:1 but that's about it. George

Many thanks Phil. More useful info for the file! Any idea what the /30 means after the type number?

A bit more info on the ref nos. The four digit number on the speedo (in my case 1584 is apparently the rpm of the drive cable at 60mph. I checked my mine and (with a 3.50" rear tyre) it worked out at 1553 so a bit out. But it is apparently the wrong speedo for the machine as it should be a nacelle fitting but is meant for a bracket fixing. We live and learn! George

I believe that most 2 to1 speedo drive boxes can be adapted to fit on a Norton. You might need to check the direction of rotation of the output that turns the cable.
On the Dominator models, the speedo gear box generally requires a steel top hat insert to sit in the axle hole. It appears to help centralise the gearbox on the shaft and add some strength to the body when the axle nut is tightened.
Hi Phil,
Which publication did your attachment originate from? Interesting - I'd like to see the rest of it if possible?
