2013 or 2014?

I am going to see my "new" 961SF which just hit the US last week and came out of the crate Friday. On my paperwork the bike is listed as a 2013. Here in the colonies new cars and bikes ( 2014 ) start being made and delivered in August or September! When do new model years change in the UK, I am assuming January, or is there a mistake in my paperwork!

Hi Bob

I think that the "new model year"would only be applicable to mass produced vehicles that have hadchanges made to them,eg when aSuzuki GSXR has the ratio of blue to white paint changed, gains or loses 0,25bhp and the crank has been lightened by 3 grams for the next season.

As far as I am aware there have been no changes madeto the Norton that would make a 2012 or2013 differentto a 2014.

Hope this helps

If the system were to keep to the way Norton always used to do it then your machine might be a 2014 one. The changeover point was the Earls Court Motor Cycle Show in October, at which the models for the following year would be on display. By the time they were into production, out to the dealers and in the hands of the first owners, it was most likely the next year anyway but I think some did get registered in the 'previous' year.

I guess if a manufacturer shows something new at the November NEC Show here in the UK, it is considered to be next year's model, otherwise not.
