I have working indicators on the 99 but to fit them I drilled holes in the old headlamp. Now fitting a new shell I would like to mount them on the HL bolts (cycle thread?) Are the parts availiable? Anyone done this?.

hi Robert,
I am in the process of fitting indicators to a 1959 Jubilee De Luxe and I was considering the replica Hella bar-end mounted indicators a la Norton Electra. Just a suggestion.

Thanks, Anna's plan would mean some exposed wiring, I was hoping to run it thro the bolts, Hella type would not work with my expensive bar mirrors. I expect I will have to drill out the welded in nuts inside the HL shell and re-tap to suit the indicator threads. How is it done on commando's?.

Hello well use some otherproduct that will fit without having to drill hole in the headlamp brackets if I can do this you can do this, it's about using your head on a problem where there is a will there is a way and you can us flexichrome cable cover to cover your exposed wiring , yours anna j

Rob,
It's done on commandos just like you think it is, the welded in nut in the headlamp shell accepts the threaded hollow portion of the indicator stalk, and there is a nut on an exposed threaded portion on the outside of the headlamp, outside of the headlamp bracket, that pulls the headlamp mounting brackets up to the headlamp to provide the horizontal hold to the headlamp.
Please don't use flexible chromed plastic cable sheath anywhere on your venerable norton (as suggested above) or the NOC lynchmob will find you and insert a pineapple into a bodily orifice of your choosing.
Kindest regards
Marty

Just a thought, some of the bar end mirrors can be used with the Hella's:
Or run your mirrors off the headlamp bolts like the Albert mirrors:
Actually the Albert mirrors have a threaded end that replaced the bold & uses a lock nut to hold it in place.
I too prefer the Hella bar end turn signals. Each side has both front & rear lenses, so no need for 4 turn signals for front & rear. I had them on my /2 BMW & loved them, and were standard fitment on my Electra as well. I think the electra was the only Norton with a Hella part from the factory?
Anyway, the units fit insside the handlebar & when tightened up, expand outward for a tight grip. The genuine Hellas have a small rectangular bit, that fits into a small notch you cut in the bar which keeps them from rotating. The replica ones dont use the notch feature.
The single wire from each lamp gets fed inside the handlebar to the center bottom of the bar, where you drill a small unseen hole & file the edges smooth & the wires from both lamps exit the handlebar at the bottom & can then easily end up inside the rubber grommet on the headlamp where all the connections get made. Nice & tidy.

Well that is different Skip, the Stag look!, won't work for me as I have very restricted access and have to fold the mirrors away. I also have the habit of leaning the bike against the wall as I don't trust the side stand and heaving the bike on center sets off the bad back.Must get the frame stops welded up and the side stand extended. I also like BIG bright rear indies as there is real risk of being ended by texting dozy cagers.Helmet mounted antlers with christmas tree lights might?? get noticed. Possibly.

Christmas tree lights to get noticed? It's obvious to me you need a red light on the port side and a green light on the starboard, a gangplank for disembarkation purposes and a crowsnest up the mizzen mast for your sandwiches, and a pirate flag.
Land ahoy me hearties!!
I must stop sniffing this glue.

I was looking at those indicators at Bristol, and was wondering if the view gets obstructed by the rider at all?
Ps Martin, not much point in putting a crows nest up the mizzen mast!

HELLO I WOULD OF NOT DRILLED THE HEADLAMP BRACKETS you could of fitted two flat bars drill to take the bolt that fits the headlamp and at the other end of the flat bars drill a hole to take the indicators and wire up into a separate wiring loom just for indicators yours anna j
