Yesterday after a long deliberation, I attended a pre-arrannged Factory Tour of Norton. It's a reatively small operation and very busy. I took time to talk to some of the blokes and they all gave very knowldgeable answers, espescially the Irish chap working on thr alloy petrol tanks. The time flew passed and it was time to take the bike out.
Loud or what ! I didn't really know what to expect. It's nothing like anything else about today. Sure-footed, abit of vibration and stunning brakes. But that engine ! It's a pushrodtwin not a multi with Ohc. Noone has told the engine. The bike I rode hadn't done 600 miles. I hadn't been told or else I wouldn't hav revved it to 6k in the gears. It flew up to 95 and 110 was no problem (on the clock that is). I kept hitting the horn looking for indicators, but it was all new to me.
Back to the factory, at 30 thru C.D. of course. Unfortunately you have to go to a dealer to effect a part-ex. My nearest on is ton plus miles away. A bit of a bastard really as I can't afford one without p/ex.
I know it was a factory-demo and all the hype that goes with sales. Noone was pushy. I WANT ONE. Speak as you find. I WANT ONE.
