MK3 HANDLEBAR SWITCH GEAR

Forums

Does anyone know of replacement handlebar electrical switchgear that can be used for a MK3, please - I understand the original Lucas parts are no longer available? Would happily consider complete units from other bikes where I had to change also either theleft handclutch assembly - and/or the right hand throttle & brake assembly.

Hi Brian

I have just bought some brand new switch gear for my MK3. Not particularly cheap - left hand and right hand switches were £60 respectively, but they look to be fairly good quality. I got them from Triumph Twin Spares (on ebay) but Norvil do the same, although you will have to add VAT. Norvil number: 065929A (right hand switch) and 065930 (left hand switch). The right hand switch bolts straight to the master cylinder as original. The left switch comes complete with the clutch lever. I have yet to fit mine but it looks although it should be fairly straightforward and they should certainly be an improvement on the tatty and unreliable units I currently have.

Regards, Shaun.

Hi Shaun,

I have brought some new switches for my Commando which fit well enough but do you know the size of bolt that secures the master cylinder to the right hand switch? I have orders some from Norvil but they do not seem to be the same size.

Hi Keith.

I've just taken one of the bolts off and measured it. Mine are Allens, don't know if that's standard. It has a very fine thread - 32tpi which, according to my Custom Fasteners catalogue, is BSF. The bolt diameter is 3/16" and the length (taken below the bolt head) is 1 3/4".
