1948 ES2

Forums

Has anyone got any photo's of a 1948 ES2 plunger, I am restoring one at the moment, I would especially like a photo of the battery carrier, as most photo's show the right hand side of the bike. I also have a lot of photo's of a 1954 Big 4, which was my previous project if they are help toanyone.

I had this problem. I have attached a photo I found but that's no guarantee that its correct for the year! If your left side rear engine plate has two holes analogous to the two lower oil tank mounting holes then you need a battery mounting bracket which secures to those holes at the bottom. I THINK thats the type shown in the photo. Any use?

Thanks for the photo Adam, but my bike has the upright gearbox, and therefore it needs the bracket that goes over the top of the box. I managed to find one at the weekend at Shepton, and it holds a T shaped battery. Any idea what type of rear light would have been fitted in 1948? Pictures I have seen have different ones even though they say it is a '48.

According to the Lucas lists, the MT211 was fitted from 1946 - 1950.

Watch out with pattern supplier's descriptions as they often list them wrongly. An original should have the number stamped on it.
